Award-winning Editor, Writer & Author

Dorothea Gundtoft is the bestselling author of Real Nordic Living, New Nordic Design, and Fashion Scandinavia, three internationally acclaimed books published in 45 countries by Thames & Hudson and Penguin Random House. Her work has been translated into over nine languages, including Chinese, and is available at leading bookstores and cultural institutions such as Palais de Tokyo, MoMA, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Hay, Foyles, Waterstones, Amazon, The Armani Bookstore in Milan, and The Strand in New York.

She also contributed to Northern Comfort by Gestalten and has written regularly for Vogue, MindBodyGreen, ELLE, Dazed & Confused, V Magazine, VMan, and formerly Style.com.

Dorothea curated the landmark exhibition Fashion Scandinavia at Somerset House, opened by the legendary Zandra Rhodes during London Fashion Week. The exhibition later travelled to Edinburgh and Copenhagen. She has also collaborated with the British Fashion Council, the Royal Danish Embassy, the Swedish Export Ministry, and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in London to curate the International Fashion Showcase of Scandinavian design talent, judged by an esteemed panel including Vogue’s Sarah Mower.

Her work has been featured across international media including The New York Magazine, Reader’s Digest, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, BBC Live, MTV, Danish National TV, Monocle Radio, Architectural Digest, ELLE Decor, House & Garden, and The Daily Telegraph, among others.

Dorothea holds a Master of Studies in Creative Writing from the University of Cambridge (Selwyn College, 2024) and remains an active alumna. She received an ELLE Style Award in 2013, and was subsequently nominated twice more in 2014 and 2015, as well as for the New Generation Award by Vogue UK.
